A smile makeover is the ultimate way to achieve the smile you’ve always dreamed of. But depending on how much work needs to be done on your teeth and gums to get your smile into tip-top shape, it may take a bit of planning to make sure things are done efficiently and effectively.

Smile Makeover To Transform Your Teeth

If you are working with a dentist that you trust, then you should probably feel confident that your dentist will provide you with the best advice when it comes to how to transform your smile and will present you with the most valid options to meet your needs.  However, it may still be worth doing a bit of research on your own to see what treatments are available so you can best determine which ones are right for you.

Once you’ve decided you’re ready to transform your smile, here are 3 things to consider before you get started:

  1. Budget – We’d like to believe that we can do whatever we want to our teeth to make them look as good as we’ve always hoped, but in reality, many people may have budgetary constraints that may cause them to have to consider one option over another. For example, if you have small imperfections on your front teeth that can be covered by dental bonding, it may not be in your budget to instead get a set of porcelain veneers to completely cover your existing teeth so they look perfect. A less expensive option may be all that you can afford. Even if you can afford more, it may be all that’s needed to get the look you want.
  2. Timeline – If you and your dentist decide that your smile can benefit from more than one procedure in order to look your very best, then it’s important that you carefully plan out the order that treatments should be completed so that you do not waste time or money. For example, if you know that you ultimately want whiter teeth, don’t opt for a tooth whitening treatment before you have other work done to fix chips or spacing. Get the restorative work done first before whitening your teeth.
  3. Goals – We all have different ideas of what the “perfect smile” entails. For some, it’s knowing that our teeth are straight and well-aligned. For others, it’s making sure that teeth are bright and luminous. Not everyone longs for a set of movie-star-like perfect teeth. So be realistic about what you hope to achieve when you set out to makeover your smile.
